Welcome to ALWOM Message Board : Church Life |
And let us not forget. Praise and Worship is FOR God! We tell Him how much we LOVE Him in our praise to Him. He answers His love back in the Worship. Therefore, it does not matter the style of the Praise song. What matters is that the song is TO God and NOT us. What do I mean?
Praise and worship songs tell of God's goodness and greatness and our love for Him DIRECTLY. They MUST be songs that Exalt Him. I don't want to debate what is or is not a praise or worship song, but keep in mind it or they MUST glorify God! So no matter what the style (old fashioned-Traditional, Contemporary, New Age etc.) They MUST speak praises to God.
Songs that speak to us, are moreso inspirational, or songs of encouragement, designed to encourage, uplift, or inspire us about God's love for us, but they do not speak DIRECTLY to God!!
Need some hints? Listen to Ron Kenoly, Alvin Slaughter, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Hillsongs, Keith Staten, Fred Hammond, Don Moen, Clint Brown, to name a few.
Be Blessed!!! And continue to PRAISE Him because He dwells in the midst of your praise!!!

"If it gets the Spirit movin', then I'll a be a groovin'". It's all about cultural relevance... what is working NOW? Does it touch the listener? Worship should be comfortable... by that I mean that worship should be an enjoyable experience for all worshippers. There is no style that is "HOLIER" than the other. If a good ol' sacred hymn speaks to you, PRAISE THE LORD! If it's the contemporary rhythms of Hillsong Church Australia, then dance the night away. Enjoy worship... that's what God intended!
TO answer the question that mg asked: Do you believe that dance is part of praise and worship? yes, David danced before the Lord. 2Sam 6:14-16 I love to sing praises and worship the Lord. He loved me so much He died for me. So I praise and worship Him as often as I can.
I like all kinds of praise and worship as long as it's for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Now do you believe that dance is a part of praise and worship? If so explain why..
